World Bioenergy Association joins the Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition
The CPLC is a voluntary partnership of 34 national and sub-national governments, over 164 businesses from a range of sectors and regions, and more than 85 strategic partners representing civil society organisations, NGOs and academic institutions that agree to advance the carbon pricing agenda by collaborating. In joining the coalition, the WBA will:
- Identify and share best practices on the design and implementation of carbon pricing instruments around the world
- Advocate for successful carbon pricing initiatives
- Engage with public and private sector stakeholders to accelerate the uptake of carbon pricing policies
- Provide input on the effects of carbon pricing on bioenergy development and deployment to strengthen the evidence base for carbon pricing
Bharadwaj Kummamuru, executive director of the WBA, said: “Our discussions among our members and the wider bioenergy network clearly show that carbon pricing is one of the key instruments to promote bioenergy development.
“CPLC is one of the leading platforms for gathering stakeholders to support carbon pricing. We feel that our partnership in CPLC will be a mutually-beneficial collaboration, which would further promote the discussions about carbon pricing and its impacts for the bioenergy community.”
