VIDA Bioenergy breaks ground on second UK facility

VIDA bioenergy has announced the groundbreaking on its second UK facility, VIDA bioenergy Wormslade, marking another step in the company’s mission to deliver sustainable energy in the countries where their plants are located.
When operational, the plant will provide enough energy to heat over 5,000 homes annually, said the company.
Construction has commenced, and completion is expected within 18 months, with commercial operations targeted for mid-2026.
The groundbreaking ceremony was led by VIDA bioenergy CEO Lars Boetje, joined by Mark Newton, representing the Landowners, along with project developer Biowatt and members of the VIDA business development and construction teams.
Lars Boetje, CEO of VIDA bioenergy, said: “The Wormslade facility demonstrates our commitment to building a sustainable future. By converting agricultural by-products into clean biomethane, we’re not only supporting the UK’s renewable energy goals but also strengthening local communities and advancing the circular economy.”
This facility will become VIDA bioenergy’s third plant in Europe, alongside its flagship operational plant in Tilburg, Netherlands, and the soon-to-be operational plant in Glentham, UK.
