Ukraine injects first biomethane into storage facilities
Ukraine's first two biomethane producers injected their initial million cubic meters of biomethane into underground gas storage facilities during the end of last year, said Heorgiy Heletukha, head of the country's Bioenergy Association.
Vitagro's first biomethane plant has been operational since September, and the Gals Agro plant since November.
This year, five new biomethane plants are planned to launch. This will allow production to increase to over 100 million cubic meters per year.
For Heletukha, developing biomethane production can form an essential element of Ukraine's distributed generation.
Concurrently, the country's State Recovery Agency is selecting communities to build CHP plants running on fuel from solid household or industrial waste.
