Sofidel’s biomass boiler for Frouard mill is “on its way”
Italian tissue group Sofidel France has announced that the second biomass boiler at its Frouard tissue mill in north-east France is on its way.
Construction will begin in the autumn, and commissioning is scheduled for next year.
The investment will allow the plant to reduce its CO2 emissions by 9,100 tons per year, according to the company.
In Frouard, a biomass boiler has already been in operation for almost a decade.
When the second one is also at capacity, the two boilers will cumulatively produce 95% of the steam needed to heat the drying cylinders of the two paper machines.
This choice is part of the multi-option strategy the Group adopts in the various countries in which it operates, adapting energy policies to the climate, and regulatory context, stated the organisation.
