Socogas has announced it will open its first plant for biomethane production.
The company has acquired a plant in Sorbolo-Mezzani in Italy, which already produces biogas, and will be converted into biomethane with a capacity of 400 cubic metres per hour and installed power of 1.7mW.
Agricultural biomass will be supplied from companies local to neighbouring territory.
The plant will produce over 3.5 million cubic metres of biomethane per year that will be fed into the national gas network.
“Biofuels are today the best ally of the energy transition for achieving the objectives of decarbonisation and climate neutrality,” said Patrizia Zucchi, president and CEO of the Socogas Group.
Waste-to-hydrogen producer Compact Syngas Solutions (CSS) will be creating 200kg of hydrogen from waste to power a 40-day sea trial of a zero-emission marine hydrogen engine
