Scandinavian Biogas targets 3 TWh biogas production by 2030
Scandinavian Biogas has announced plans to reach an annual biogas production capacity in Europe of 3 TWh by 2030 – mainly bio-LNG.
Based on the firm’s previously published business plan, the financial goal by 2024 to reach at least 700 GWh annual capacity remains unchanged.
Scandinavian Biogas said the market for heavy transportation vehicles is expected to grow substantially in the 2020s, with this customer segment demanding a substantial share of energy to be bio-LNG. Maritime and industrial usage is also expected to follow. In the same period, biogas and bio-LNG production is expected to grow in Europe from 191 TWh to 467 TWh.
This targeted growth will be based on organic development as well as acquisitions. In the first phase, investments will be made in northern and Central Europe. The company has established a dedicated group level function this month, to enhance growth.
