PTT follows the green road to Oz
Algae-based energy is the order of the day for Thailand-based petroleum company PTT and it is working in Australia to achieve that end.
PTT is already in early partnership with Australia’s national science agency CSIRO, with the end-goal of developing algae-oil extraction. The venture is currently focusing on fatty acid methyl ether from selected marine algae.
‘Oil extracted from micro-algae is considered the third generation of biofuel and it is also one of our key milestones to maintain the Thailand's energy security,’ PTT president Pailin Chuchottaworn was quoted as saying.
As well as utilising any positive research moving forward, it is believed PTT may also consider constructing an algae-based fuel production site in Australia in the future.
