PTEC holds ground-breaking ceremony for Indonesia biomass plant

news item image
TESS Holdings' subsidiary, PT PTEC RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT (PTEC), held a ground-breaking ceremony for a biomass plant last month, in West Java, Indonesia.
Biomass fuel will be derived from agricultural crop residues.
TESS established PTEC in Indonesia in 2018, as a research and development base in Indonesia, to best explore how to process agricultural crop residues into biomass pellets.
It has accrued specific knowhow in EFB (empty fruit bunch) - consisting of converting unutilised material from palm oil industries into biomass.
With this knowledge, PTEC will construct a plant as a manufacturing base for EFB pellets. It will have a site area of approximately 9,000 m2.
Operations are scheduled to begin this May, and annual production is expected to be 10,000 tons per year.
The EFB pellets produced will be supplied to a tea plant operated by state-operated PTPN Group.
