Pinnacle restarts production at Entwistle facility following fire

Wood pellets manufacturer Pinnacle Renewable Energy announced that it has restarted production of wood pellets at its Entwistle facility in Alberta, Canada, following a fire in February.

The company is working with Alberta Labour Occupational Health & Safety, fire authorities, insurance adjusters, equipment suppliers and other experts as part of an ongoing investigation into a fire in the dryer area of the facility that broke out on 11 February.

A further update on the facility and the investigation will be provided during Q2 2019, according to the company.

Pinnacle has also entered into a new long-term contract with Japanese trading company Sumitomo to supply industrial wood pellets in Japan.

Under the contract, Pinnacle will supply Sumitomo with 200,000 metric tonnes of wood pellets per year from 2022.

According to Pinnacle, this contract is the ninth offtake agreement signed by the company in Asia and the third with Sumitomo since February 2019.
