Nextwood Two hopes to acquire wood pellet producer KUREKSS
Austrian holding company Nextwood Two, has submitted a merger report to acquire KUREKSS.
Nextwood is indirectly owned by HS Timber, one of the world's leading wood-working companies. It operates in the fields of bioenergy production, as well as wood processing and sawn timber trade.
KUREKSS is a lumber producer and exporter, which owns a sawmill in the Ventspils region.
It also owns SIA Kurzemes granulas, which produces and sells wood pellets.
The Competition Council is due to adopt a decision on permitting, prohibiting or permitting a merger with binding provisions within one month from the date of receipt of the report.
However, if the case requires additional in-depth investigation, the decision-making period may be extended to three months from the date of receipt of the report.
