New biomethane plant planned for Selja, Estonia

news item image
Balti Biometaan OÜ and OÜ Selja are planning to build a modern green gas plant in the Selja area of Estonia.
The aim of the project is to produce biogas from local raw materials (biodegradable waste, waste of agricultural origin and biomass of various origins), purify green carbon dioxide from it, and obtain biomethane as the final product.
The final location of the Selja biostation, more detailed conditions, such as the quantities of raw materials and production, the technology used, the layout plan, etc., will be determined in the next stages of the project's further development.
The biostation will create 3-6 direct jobs in the region and some indirect jobs (growing raw materials, transport and other services, repair and maintenance work).
The biomethane produced at the biostation can be used in the future, if necessary, in local industry, district heating and gas stations.
