Nedgia signs 45 contracts for RNG injection into network

Nedgia, the Naturgy Group's gas distributor, has signed 45 contracts for connection to biomethane plants for the injection of renewable gas into its gas distribution network.
The injection capacity linked to these requests amounts to 2,400 GWh/year, equivalent to the gas consumption of nearly half a million homes in Spain.
By autonomous community, Nedgia has signed a total of 13 connection contracts in Castilla y León, ten in Castilla-La Mancha, eight in Catalonia, five in Galicia, four in Andalusia, three in Navarre and two in the Valencian Community.
Of these applications, 70% of the biomethane injection volume is concentrated in Castilla y León (630 GWh/year), Castilla-La Mancha (586 GWh/year) and Catalonia (449 GWh/year).
The gas network plays a strategic role in the deployment of renewable gases.
Nedgia currently has seven biomethane generation facilities connected to its network with a combined injection capacity of 200 GWh/year.
In addition to the plants that are already operating and injecting renewable gas into the distribution network, there are 14 more facilities in the construction phase or in very advanced administrative processing with an injection capacity of 741 GWh/year that will be connected to the Nedgia network soon.
“The 45 projects signed by Nedgia with different developers illustrate the great interest there is in the market for the development of renewable gas production facilities. For these and many other projects to be carried out, regulatory measures that offer greater certainty to investment, similar to those that exist in other countries in the European environment, are more necessary than ever,” said Raúl Suárez, CEO of Nedgia.
