Mississippi wood pellet facilities to provide new jobs
According to WLOX two new wood pellet facilities are to be built in South Mississippi in collaboration with Enviva Wood Pellets. The new facilities are expected to bring hundreds of jobs as well as economic growth to Jackson and George counties.
WLOX reports that George County has said that the board of supervisors voted to build a $140 million (€122 million) wood pellet facility at the county’s Industrial Park. The new facility it set to provide 90 new full time jobs, 300 construction jobs and an estimated 300 indirect jobs within the timber and transportation industry.
Enviva are also planning on building a distribution plant at the Port of Pascagoula. The plant is to be built at the start of this year and will cost around $60 million (€52 million).
County spokesman, Ken Flanagan told WLOX that the production plant will be the largest private investment in George County Industrial Park in more than 20 years.
