JFE Engineering secures contract for 75MW biomass plant in Japan
JFE Engineering Corp. has won an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for a 75MWe biomass power plant in Japan.
The plant will be constructed for MOE in Mitsubishi Paper Mills Hachinohe works and it’s scheduled to commence operation in the first half of 2019.
It will generate an annual 5.3 billion kWh of electricity from wood chips, palm kernel shell, and coal as feedstock.
In the contract MOE specified that it wants to achieve “the world’s highest level” of thermal efficiency, which JFE plans to reach by using Valmet’s state-of-the-art CFB boilers.
In March 2015, JFE signed a cooperation agreement making it the exclusive supplier of Valmet’s Cymic CFE boilers in Japan.
