Host, Birch Solutions partner on UK biogas projects
Birch is an established AD plant service operator, with capabilities including biogas plant optimisation. Bioenergy technology provider, Host, headquartered in the Netherlands, has over 350 bioenergy plants across Europe, North America and Asia. Through this strategic collaboration, the focus will be promoting and selling plant expansion projects to existing plant operators as well as complete, new-build AD facilities.
Marck Sacker, managing director of Birch, based in North Lincolnshire, said he felt Birch is the perfect fit for Host.
“Host is a big and respected name worldwide and has been pioneering innovative technology in the AD and renewable gas industry for more than 30 years,” said Sacker.
“The UK has a large number of small AD plants but with government incentives favouring larger plants in the future, the opportunities for individual plant expansions are significant. Host’s experience in biogas plant builds, from small agricultural plants to larger industrial projects, means they are very well positioned to provide everything the UK market will require.”
In the UK, Host is currently building an AD plant at the Charlton Park Estate, developed by Raw Energy, and at the Stanton Recycling site in Ilkeston for Stanton Energy, both for biomethane-to-grid injection purposes.
“We are delighted and honoured to be represented by Birch in the UK,” said Sjaak Klein Gunnewiek, sales manager at Host.
“Host has positioned itself as an industry leader in terms of efficiency, ROI, sustainability and innovations. With Birch as an experienced and strong customer-focused service partner in the UK, we are excited to build on the strong momentum that the UK AD market is offering with the Green Gas Support Scheme and Green Gas Levy.”
