Germany’s Agraferm to construct three biogas plants in South Korea
Agraferm Technologies, a German manufacturer of biogas, biomethane, and waste recycling plants, is expanding its internationalisation strategy to the Asian market.
The company has chosen Seoul, South Korea, as the location for the subsidiary AF Biogas, which is currently in the process of being founded and will enter operation later in 2015.
Environmentally friendly manure and waste disposal as well as active water protection are key themes in Korea’s ambitious environmental scene at the moment.
Agraferm plans to build three plants by 2017, which will initially be run by Agraferm itself in order to guarantee a stable transfer of knowledge and comprehensive training for personnel.
Agraferm’s technology is well-suited for the needs of Korea, where intensive agricultural and animal husbandry are threatening ground and surface water and are contributing to rising CO2 emissions, the company says.
The plants will contribute to environmentally sound waste disposal and the recovery of energy from waste material, such as manure and leftover food.
