Gasum to supply FlixBus with biogas for new Nordic route

Gasum has partnered with FlixBus to supply biogas for its new bus operating between the capitals of Sweden and Norway.

The bus, operating between Stockholm and Oslo, is a Scania vehicle and will start operating on its new route at the beginning of July.

As a 100% renewable fuel, biogas supports FlexiBus’ climate strategy. FlixBus’ owner FlixMobility is known as a leading tech-mobility company and is eager to try new sustainable technology and fuels to lower its climate impact and reduce its carbon footprint.

“Our vision is to offer sustainable mobility to everybody,” said André Schwämmleinn, CEO of FlixMobility.

“Green-tech is at the core of our business and one of our key sustainability drivers. We ensure that the resurgence of travel is sustainable, and biogas is certainly one of the most important technologies to achieve this already today.”

Mikael Antonsson, sales director of traffic, Sweden at Gasum, commented: “The partnership is a result of a great cooperation between Gasum, FlixBus and Scania. Together, we are building a cleaner future.

“We hope that in the near future biogas will become even more common as a fuel for buses as it reduces both carbon dioxide emissions and local emissions, making it a perfect choice to decrease the impact of public transportation on cities’ air quality.”

If you wish to learn more about what Gasum is doing in the biogas sector, Johan Gron, head of the company's biogas business unit, will be speaking at this year’s International Biogas Congress & Expo in Brussels on 19-20 October. For more information go to: bioenergy-news.com/conference.
