Fulcrum unveils new biogas service to support renewable fuel generation
Utility kit specialist Fulcrum has become of the first independent utility infrastructure providers to enter the renewables market with a new biogas service.
Utilising its extensive experience and expertise in the delivery of gas, electricity and water infrastructure across Britain, Fulcrum is entering the renewables sector to provide pipelines that connect biogas plants to the UK gas distribution network.
Traditionally, Fulcrum designs and installs new gas and utility infrastructure to domestic properties and business premises to receive gas from the UK Gas network.
Fulcrum has delivered a series of high profile projects including the gas infrastructure serving the Olympic Park, Athletes Village and the Olympic Cauldron at London 2012. The company also holds a significant national contract to provide connections to properties for British Gas, which was recently extended until 2018.
The new service sees Fulcrum's installation process reversed to enable energy produced by biogas generators to be fed into the UK network via the installation of new gas infrastructure.
The introduction of this new service is part of Fulcrum's strategy to operate across a range of utility sectors providing technical engineering, design, project management and consultancy services. It has established a strong track record in the utilities industry and includes British Gas among its high profile customers.
The UK biogas industry is experiencing considerable growth and has expanded seven-fold since 2010, according the Anaerobic Digestion and Biogas Association (ADBA). With around 400 operational plants across the UK, the organisation also suggests there is scope for more than a thousand.
