Enviva plans to “double in size” in coming years

Thomas Meth, co-founder, president and CEO of US-based woody biomass producer Enviva, gave insight into the company’s activity and its ambitious growth plans.
Enviva is the world's largest producer of wood pellets, making it a major player in the transition to renewables. In light of that,
Bioenergy Insight asked where Enviva exports the majority of its biomass to, and the effect Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine has had on the volume of exports.
“Enviva sells most of its wood pellets through long-term, take-or-pay off-take contracts with creditworthy customers primarily in the United Kingdom, the European Union and Japan, helping to accelerate the energy transition and to de-fossilise hard-to-abate sectors like steel, cement, lime, chemicals and aviation fuels,” said Meth.
