Engie acquires majority stake in biomass-powered network in Ávila
The project, which is nearing completion, represents a significant addition to Engie’s portfolio of sustainable energy infrastructure and aims to become a benchmark for renewable heating solutions in urban areas.
The Ávila district heating network will provide energy generated from forest biomass, reducing carbon emissions and contributing to Spain’s transition towards a more sustainable energy model.
This acquisition further cements ENGIE’s leadership in Spain’s heating and cooling sector, complementing its existing projects in Barcelona, Zaragoza, Palencia, and other key cities, according to the company.
