Plenium Partners, an independent Spanish investment group, has announced a new deal in Italy's biomethane sector.
It has been made with Aragorn Value Leadership, a prominent developer of biomethane plants with an extensive track record in the renewable energy sector in Italy.
The transaction will be made through Plenium Partners' Ecualia Capital fund and marks a significant step in its commitment to sustainability, renewable energy and the development of new projects in Italy.
Both firms will launch a new platform initially focused on the construction and operation of four biomethane plants located in different parts of Italy, for which an investment exceeding €100 million will be made.
Each plant will have a production capacity of around 500 standard cubic meters per hour (scm/h).
The platform will also analyse existing biogas plants to be reconverted.
The first plant has already reached the Ready-to-Build status, and construction began last month.
This facility is located in northern Italy, in the region of Lombardy, Pavia province, and it is estimated that the project will start operating in the last quarter of 2025.
This first plant has successfully participated in the 3rd biomethane tariff auction organized by GSE, the renewable premium manager in Italy.
The plant will help improve waste management in the area, processing around 50,000 tons annually of livestock and agricultural waste.
