EBRD to invest $11.2 million into two Belarus biogas plants
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) announced that it is providing $11.2 million (€9.91 million) to Lithuanian renewables firm Modus Group for two biogas plants in Belarus.
According to the release, the two plants will have a total installed capacity of 3MW and be able to generate 23.6GWh of clean energy annually.
In December 2018, Bioenergy Insight reported that Modus Energy, a subsidiary of the Modus Group, had decided to invest €17.6 million into the Belarusian biogas market.
EBRD claims that it has invested almost €2.4 billion in 112 projects in various sectors of the country's economy since the beginning of its operations in Belarus in 1992.
The project will be reducing carbon emissions by 9,100 tonnes per year.
