Drax Biomass appoints Peter Madden as US CEO
Drax Biomass has appointed Peter Madden as its CEO of US operations.
Madden brings nearly 30 years' experience in the forestry industry and will play a leadership role as Drax's workforce and investment in the US grows. Madden will guide the overall strategy and oversee day-to-day operations in the US.
Madden most recently served as the VP of renewable energy and supply chain for Plum Creek Timber Company, headquartered in Seattle. He began his career in forestry in 1988 as a field technician with the Westvaco Corporation in South Carolina. In 1992, he joined Georgia-Pacific Corporation where he held various positions including operations manager, procurement manager and senior financial analyst. Madden holds a B.A. from Marlboro College and an MS in Forestry and MBA from the University of New Hampshire.
Drax Biomass has built manufacturing facilities in the south-eastern US that are environmentally sound, safe, and professionally managed to meet the market demand for wood pellets. Drax Biomass is a wholly owned US subsidiary of Drax Group, a major electricity generator in the UK with a commitment to producing sustainable, renewable power.
Drax Biomass has built its first bioenergy manufacturing facilities in Amite, Mississippi and Morehouse, Louisiana as well as a Gulf Regional Hub storage and export facility, in Baton Rouge.
