CycleØ to hold public consultation on Kildare biomethane plant

CycleØ will hold a public consultation for its proposed biomethane facility in South Kildare, Ireland, on 19 February.
The Spanish company wants to build the plant as part of its €100 million strategy to finance, build and operate four sites in Kildare, Galway, Limerick and Calvan.
The meeting will take place between 2-7pm at the Clanard Hotel in Athy.
According to CycleØ, this biomethane plant will produce approximately 40 GWh of biomethane each year, using locally collected slurry.
This could heat over 3,000 homes per annum.
“The new biomethane plants will help support the Irish Government’s ambition to produce 5.7TWh of indigenous biomethane by 2030,” said James Manley, CycleØ’s Irish country manager.
“There is no up-front cost to participate and, as CycleØ both owns and operates the plant, there is no financial risk for farmers working with the company,” he added.
“The development of these projects will generate long-term additional revenue for local farmers [because] contracting to provide stock for the plants provides farmers with a solution to the long-term management of slurry.”
