China Everbright International and DP CleanTech sign deal for three biomass power plants in China

Renewable energy company China Everbright International has signed three contracts with DP CleanTech for the construction of three 30MW straw-fired biomass power plants in China.

This brings the number of Everbright International plants in China using DP technology to five; and the total number of DP power plants in China to 55, which represents over 30% market share.

The plants will also be optimised to handle additional fuel types including rice husk, corn stalk, woodchips, and cotton and bean residues. The multi-fuel capabilities maximise output and annual availability of the plants for Everbright International while utilising seasonal local biomass waste and securing additional revenue streams for farming communities.

The projects, located in Dingyuan, Huaiyuan and Lingbi, in Anhui province, will feature DP's high pressure high temperature boiler technology which has already been successfully demonstrated in more than 50 plants in China.

Everbright International's CEO Chen Xiao Ping says: 'These new biomass plants form part of our aspiration to be leaders in renewable energy solutions in China, and around the world. The collaboration with reputable companies such as DP CleanTech who have proven, advanced technologies and international expertise is an important step towards this ambition.'

Construction on the three facilities will begin soon and is expected to complete in 2016.
