CCEE reports increased biomass energy production in Brazil

Brazilian biomass plants have produced an average of 1,449 MW in the first five months of 2015, Brazil’s Power Commercialisation Chamber (CCEE) reports.

InfoMercade Mensal, a CCEE newsletter, reports the amount is up 17.5% from last year’s.

In May Brazil’s calculated biomass power capacity was 10.7 GW, which is up by 9.6%.

The state of Sao Paulo is the largest biomass power producer with 1,580 MWa.

Goias, Mato Grosso do Sul, and Minas Gerais respectively follow with 423 MWa, 363 MWa and 348 MWa productions.

By the end of May CCEE had 233 operational biomass power plants on its register, compared to 212 a year ago.
