Biomass power plants planned for the Philippines
Bioenergy company Clenergen is to begin building a 1MW biomass plant in Romblon in the Philippines which will help to supply power to houses that are in the off-grid zone of the region.
The development is part of an agreement Clenergen signed with the country’s National Power Corporation recently, in which the company is to build an array of facilities.
Another power plant will be built in Kalinga, supplying 1.5MW to the grid; and a third in Palawan, generating 3.5MW.
The Romblon biomass plant could eventually supply 5MW to the grid, using bamboo – which will be grown locally by Romblon university – as a feedstock.
