Bio Capital acquires Corbiere Renewables

Bio Capital has acquired Corbiere Renewables Limited from the Raynham Estate and Downing LLP.

Corbiere Renewables is a 550m3/hour biogas-to-grid anaerobic digestion (AD) plant located on the Raynham Estate in Norfolk. Bio Capital will operate the AD plant and will continue to work in partnership with the Raynham Estate for the provision of feedstock and utilisation of the organic fertiliser produced by the plant.

Bio Capital is a joint venture between energy and infrastructure investment funds Equitix and Helios. Bio Capital owns and operates a growing portfolio of AD plants across the UK.

Peter Sharpe, CEO of Bio Capital, said: “We are delighted to have successfully acquired Corbiere Renewables and to add such a high performing asset to our portfolio. We are looking forward to working with the Raynham Estate in a long-term partnership with an intent towards improving both renewable energy production and sustainable farming to assist the transition to net zero and positive outcomes for nature.”

Tom Raynham, CEO of the Raynham Estate, said: “Having built up such a successful AD business I am delighted that Bio Capital are taking on the company. We created the business to give our farming company greater resilience and less reliance on artificial fertiliser and global commodity prices.

“This is a long-term view and I couldn’t be happier that Bio Capital and our own outlook is so aligned. The support we had from Downing LLP with funding the development of the plant allowed us to create one of the most efficient and productive AD plants in the country.”
