The American Biogas Council's executive director, Patrick Serfass, congratulated Chris Wright on his confirmation as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy.
He said: “On behalf of the American Biogas Council and its member companies, we congratulate Mr. Wright on his confirmation.
"The biogas industry produces an important source of clean energy by converting food scraps, manure, landfill gas and other often wasted material, into renewable fuel and electricity that can be relied on whenever it is needed for as long as it is needed.
"We look forward to working with Mr. Wright’s Energy Department to support U.S. energy dominance and economic growth in every state across the nation.”
Wright's support for the renewables sector in office remains to be seen.
As CEO of Denver-based Liberty Energy, he was outspoken against climate change mitigation measures.
According to Wright, expanded fossil fuel production can help lift people out of poverty around the world.
