Ameresco RNG plant begins commercial operation in Illinois

Ameresco has achieved commercial operation at its landfill-gas-to-renewable- natural-gas plant at Republic Services’ Brickyard Landfill in Danville, Illinois, in the US. Michael Bakas, executive vice president, gives Bioenergy Insight an overview.
Ameresco is a leading cleantech integrator specialising in sustainable energy services including, designing, building, owning, operating and maintaining biogas projects. Headquartered in Framingham, Massachusetts, the company develops energy service projects and assets around the globe.
Bakas is part of the founding management team at Ameresco. In addition to overseeing the group responsible for the developing and operating its renewable biomethane assets, he has supported the overall strategic growth of the company these 24 years.
He told Bioenergy Insight that the Danville facility builds upon a decades-long relationship between Ameresco and Republic Services, having developed 11 previous landfill-to-gas (LFG) projects.
