Calvera sells biomethane transport module to E.ON Biofor Sweden

High-pressure gas equipment specialist Calvera has announced the sale of its first biomethane transport module to E.ON Biofor Sweden, entering the Swedish market.

The company has delivered an easy-life gas transport module to E.ON, which operates a network of 70 biogas fuel stations across Sweden.

“This is an important step for us. E.ON Biofor is one of Sweden’s largest providers of biogas, and although Sweden has one of the most well-established networks of biogas fuel stations in Europe, many of these are in remote locations without access to a gas network,” said Rafael Calvera, CEO of Calvera.

“We have worked closely with E.ON and other suppliers to design a reliable system which can transport gas more effectively via virtual gas pipelines on Sweden’s network of rural roads. In particular we have tried to simplify delivery by offering lighter modules which can be lifted rapidly on and off the supply truck via a hydraulic hook-lift crane. We think it will make a positive impact to the country’s network in the years ahead,” he continued.

“We have been pleased with the unit we have been supplied and it has performed as we would have hoped,” added Stefan Ernebrant, system analyst at E.ON. “This gives us a new option to consider when we add to our fleet in the future. Each truck-mounted unit will carry up to 4,300kg of biomethane, sufficient to refuel at least 40 buses and is designed and built at Calvera’s manufacturing facility in Epila, near Zaragoza in Spain.”

Calvera added that it is in discussion with other biogas network owners in Europe.
